Homemade Apple Butter (No Canning Required!)
There’s something nostalgic about homemade apple butter. It smells like cozy mornings, crisp fall air, and warm toast fresh from the toaster. This version is super simple and made right in your slow cooker — no canning needed!
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 6–8 hours (slow cooker)
Makes: About 2 cups
⭐Ingredients
- 6 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced (I like a mix of Gala and Fuji!)
-
1/2 cup brown sugar
-
1/4 cup white sugar
-
1 tablespoon cinnamon
-
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
-
1/4 teaspoon cloves
-
1/4 teaspoon salt
-
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
⭐Instructions
- Place sliced apples into your slow cooker.
-
Add all remaining ingredients except vanilla and stir to coat apples evenly.
-
Cover and cook on low for 6–8 hours or until apples are super soft and dark brown.
-
Use an immersion blender (or transfer to a blender carefully) and blend until smooth.
-
Stir in vanilla extract.
-
Let cool, then store in jars or containers in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
⭐Joy's Tip
Spread this on toast, pancakes, or swirl it into oatmeal. You can even gift a small jar with a ribbon and a tag for fall neighbors or teachers!
